power supply for galaxy dx98vhp

any recommendations on a good power supply for the galaxy Dx 98vhp im moving it from a mobile configuration to a base set up and im not confident in just grabbing any power supply and hooking it up also do they make them with clip style connector so I can just plug the radio straight into the power supply instead of cutting the connector off the radio ill try to post a picture once I get home over the road currently

I have had good luck with my Megawatt power supply. I have used the 36 amp version for three years now. I can run a two transistor kicker with it plus an old Uniden Grant and power for the light on my SWR meter, should be fine for that radio.

WARNING!!!!
I just looked at the owners manual for your radio. It says that the current drain is 25 amps for AM and 40 amps for side band. A 35 amp power supply will not work for you. You will want at least a 50 amp power supply to get the most from your radio. You always want some overhead of the rating of your radio so if it is fused at 40 amps at least 20% above that at a minimum should be your target. The truth is, get the largest quality PS you can afford. Don't hook anything else to it. If you need to connect more 12vdc equipment up get a smaller one for them. Look for Astron, Pyramid, Ameritron.

Whatever chosen, (again), match

1). Radio + Gear Maximum Amp Draw Stated (Fuse Values); to,

2). Power Supply Continuous Rating.

I might plan to run all gear at below capacity. Let it loaf.

And one day, . . . I might not.
Due to a seriously good reason.

Power Cabling, etc, to same or above.
50A Max but with 75A-capable (less than 3% loss).

Look at whole picture.

The installation has precedence over what radio plugged in.

What are your thoughts on this guy? The price isn't too bad and it has a decent cushion if you will from 50amps. Im far from electronically smart i know some things but again I get confused about this topic and alittle hesitant. I want my equipment to be powered and work as it should.

My impression (correction requested) is that it’s a labeled device. Made by who knows?

Ameriton or MFJ name then attached.

That said, one is generally safe in buying from DX-E. Meaning, had it too many returns I believe it’d be dropped from the catalog.

@Slowmover ive read alittle on the mfj model too both are identical from what i see. Some reviews on DX E say returns of the Ameritron are difficult or maybe not possible and @Moleculo has a post specifically for the mfj. I think I need to stop being a pussy foot about which one to get and just bite the bullet and grab one of these 75amp power supplies just to be on the safe side for equipment growth and so I can run the galaxy as much as I want without hurting the poor little export. Lol
