I was talking with Al from Sparky's and he said that the Uniden 76-78 are unable to produce the same numbers as the cobra 29's. They are also doing something more than the instructions listed in the cbtricks.com because they are seeing unreal numbers of 120w or so from the RFX and I did the RFX modification per item of cbtricks.com and can only get 80 pep. I would like to know what they are doing to produce these kinds of numbers. As far as the SSb radios like the Rangers and such I can see lower numbers as per the previous post but that doesn't explain why the Uniden 76-78 are producing lower numbers supposedly; I have not done this to one yet but my buddy just had his done by Sparky's and it was a Uniden and Al said it was doing dk=14 and pep of 92. So my big question is what are they doing to the cobra board or to the RFX to get those big number like 120w out of a Cobra 29? Whats the big trick, so one know how it is done let us all know. By the way I will get pics up when I get a chance to take pictures and I will show exactly how I hot glued it down and location of the wires. I have a feeling the cap failure they talk about in the cbtricks service bulletin on the RFX if it shows low output or shows power fade during extended talk time is happening to mine. If I talk on it for an extended time the heatsink gets a little warm and the s/rf meter shows the power fading a little but the peak still about the same. I would recommend replacing the c8 to the mylar type or which ever they suggest before installing. Otherwise after installing the RFX it would be a real pain especially since I hot glued the wires coming from the RFX through the 3/8 in the back of radio to keep it from chaffing the wires during the vibration in the truck. Good Luck.
