predator 10 k????

anyone have a testimonial on the 22" or 27" competition or competition plus bad to the bone?
It's been said here that the longer the antenna the better not sure how true that is within several inches of another.

Today I switch from my 102 inch whip with a 4 inch spring to the Predator 10K K-1-27. Yes I mounted the Predator on the spring but that may change. This is mounted on a Breedlove mount. I probably cut about 6 inches off the stinger. It’s about 3 inches shorter than my whip. So far no testimonial regarding DX. Without a doubt it is a significantly quieter antenna regarding hash/static. It’s definitely broadbanded although I didn’t use an a Analyzer. Pretty sure I can cover 11/10 meters. Here’s a couple of pics of my setup.

Not really...the antenna screws off and the 2 x 8 keeps my drywall hauling lifted over the mount. Works great. In addition two 1/2 bolts come off the Breedlove mount easy peasy and the bed is completely flat.

Very true. I've tested a Sirio 3000 against a Sirio 4000. The Sirio 3000 is 1.74m long, the Sirio 4000 is 2m long, a difference of 25cm or 12 inches but more importantly only a difference in length of 13%. The difference between a 22" and 27" antenna is 19%. On a CB the difference was 2 S points between the two Sirios. S5 rising to S7 in this case when swapping out to the longer antenna and everything else remaining exactly the same using the same mount in the same location and doing immediate back to back tests. I'd expect a similar improvement going from a 22" to 27" antenna. Going from a 27" to a 6ft or 9ft I'd expect several S points difference on a CB.

I've done a video on Youtube using different length whips on my Little Tarheel II using the WWV signal on 10MHz. Going from 3ft to 6ft saw a >6dB difference, a more than fourfold increase in signal strength. Going from 6ft to 9ft saw a >3dB difference.

if i rember correctly the 22 asnd 27 are for bed rail and toolbox mounting.. 17 works best on roofmount.. as others stated there has been reviews

so other than height would there be a reason not to put the 22" or 27" on the roof?
I kinda was touching on this subject in another thread without satisfaction

The only reason not to put a long lower shaft on the roof is that it's more likely to be broken by low trees or whatever.

I never had much of an issue with short shafts until I got over a few hundred watts with the antenna mounted behind the cab on a riser. The swr would rise with high power. Going to a longer shaft helped. I ran a 17 inch puck mounted to the roof with a 16 pill and it worked fine.

Whelp...sir you’re an interesting character on this board. As compared to the 102 inch whip it’s quieter and more broad banded

where has the site gone to buy these?? is kale still making them?? i went to predator10kdiscountantennas.com and one other the sitesd dont exist anymore?? nolw i caN goto bobscb ,bells, clays ,ect ..just wondering what was up
Kale is still building for now...But you never know when he's going to hang it up and retire...Guy is like 84 years old now, personally I don't see how he still does it...Another good place to get the Predator 10K's and parts is "Clays Radio Shop"...Kale keeps him well stocked in spare parts like shafts and coils... http://www.claysradioshop.com/

I have yet to see an antenna advertised as low banded. even the simple glass sticks label 26-30 unless that's considered low banded.

I'm bringing sexy back AND this thread... so is Kale still alive and building these antenna's or has someone else taken over the chore?
