Hello all, I gota question. I have a Toyota Tacoma and I am looking to buy a 10K to place on the bed rail right behind the rear window, I take it the coil must be above the cab, but how much? Measured it out and it looks like I need to clear 23", should I get the 22" and add a spring? And What is the length of the whip on a 22" or 27" ? finally can the 10K be tuned (like a firestick) ? Thanks everybody.

jeffrice6,
You do not want to add a spring, just get the longer shaft. The coil should be up above the cab as much as possible.

My coil is about 24" above the cab, this is with the antenna in the center of the roof.
But every installation is a let different in as far as how the antenna is going to tune. These coil antenna's due tune very easy.

I am sure Kale will be along shortly to answer you question more throughly, if not, then put your question in his section.

jeffrice6, the 27" shaft single coil antenna will be the antenna you need for your truck. Kale

Over all height of the Predator 10K is around 65". Never use a "Spring" on it either. If you get the Single Coil 10K, it will have a longer stinger on it, than the Dual Coil 10K, so it will flex more when you hit tree-limb's. However, the Dual Coil 10K is a little shorter in height. And it will have a shorter stinger, which will not flex as much...

The 27" shaft 10K is going to be the one you would want. You'll just have to decide which one to get...Single Coil, or Dual Coil...Either way...The Predator 10K is the best, and light'est on the market to date.....

IF, you happen to brake-it, hitting tree's, just call Kale, tell him what broke, and he will fix-ya-up, with a new peace to get ya back in buissness! All parts of the 10K can be replaces by unscrewing them!;) This is the only antenna I have used, where you can do that.

Which Predator 10K would be best for the top of a
2002 extended cab pickup truck?
I'm sure a lot of you have used these.
A single or a dual coil?
All reply's appreciated.

I run my antenna on the rear corner of the bed so for me a 22" or 27" shaft, with a single coil.
No reason for a dual coil.
Never had a problem tuning them.
One suggestion, when done tuning, coat the end of the stinger and set screw with Noalox before you slip it back in and tighten it down.
I have experienced the stinger becoming stuck in the top of the antenna after about a year on the pickup.
Kale offered to fix it for me, I managed to get it out on my own and applied noalox to prevent it from happening again.

I have a

Straight Bar Front Bed Rail Bracket # 313

Breedlove mount I plan on mounting on my pickup truck bedrail dead center right behind the rear window. The top of it will still be about 8 inches or so below the top of the cab. I've never owned a Predator 10k but, after all the great reviews I've read here about them, I am going to order one. My question is, for the location I described, which one should I get? Shaft length, dual or single coil, etc...???

Well. I bit the bullet. I just ordered a Predator 10K (K-1-27). Cost a lot but, after all I've read on here, I have to see for myself how this antenna out talks a 102" SS Whip so badly. For the money I just spent, I dang sure hope it does!

Lots of luck installing the fasteners because there is not too much clearance between the cab and the box.

My error! The Breedlove Mount #300 is the tough mount to get access to the fasteners.
I have the 313 and it will not fit between the headboard and the cab due to the configuration / shape of the headboard.
I use a Breedlove #EZN 910 Stake Pocket Mount with a #203 Quick Disconnect. Using the stake pocket mount makes life a little simpler to remove the antenna than climbing into the bed to remove the antenna from the center of the rail.
Now how would I know that? Lol...lol!
