President George FCC - CONFIRMED!

The original George was not seen much here, like the original Lincoln.
I got my first one (lincoln) in the mid 80's that was brought over from the Europe, at that time they were being built for President Electronics of Belgium by Uniden, before President France or CRI
This is back when you had to do foot work to find export radios.
President has always asked top tier prices for there stuff so I am not surprised that they still do.
I would have rather seen a new case style over the 980/Grant II chassis as they had already tainted the reputation with bad displays in the 980 and the less than stellar roll out of the Grant II with RX problems.
I liked the look of the older chassis better.

Here you go gentlemen, and with a hefty price tag too.

This is the case when they first release a new radio.
Wonder what there mark up ☝ is?
Interesting that Walcott says " for use with repeaters " when talking about CTCSS and the radio has zero provisions for split operation.
Not to mention that in the US there are no legal CB repeaters.
Interesting.

They're pricing it equal to a niche with radios that not only have more power but also more functions.
Radioddity alone has 2 radios priced at or below the Georgia fcc with more to offer.
Just to name a few are the q5n2, q6, ares 2, and priced just right above this one is the lincoln 2 plus.

President sent this modified overpriced 980ssb on a suicide mission

It doesn't make sense

The only thing is that this is a FCC approved radio, there are users that do not want to run outside the rules and this will fill that niche.
The McKinley USA can be had on Amazon right now for $179 ($199 w discount) so for that extra $100 you get FM and a few features........
I suspect that it will come down in.price once the new wears off.

FYI, This is a Qixiang radio - the quality and 'typical performance' of this radio is ARES2/AT-5555Nii level (very similar PCB, with less power and features to meet CB compliance). It has nothing to do with Uniden or the 980SSB, etc...

So, it won't be a "crap" radio at all. It will perform great as a LEGAL CB. Is it priced too high? It's definitely up there! But that's a different story... I'm looking forward to seeing what has been changed compared with the European non-FCC version.

This is a Qixiang radio
So does this mean Uniden/President is no longer making their own boards ? That would be the end of an era if that's the case. There was a time when having a Uniden board in a CB meant you had a top of the line product. The last few years not so much (looking at you 980!). This also means that Ranger (ugh) might be the only other company still making radios without Qixiang boards.......and boy does it show LOL!
