President McKinley receive issue

Once the radio is warmed up (and I've noticed these new style radios get HOT just sitting there sandbagging, it's the regulator chips that do) it will not receive on LSB.

Starts off as a delay going into LSB, then it won't receive until you key/unkey the mic, then it just won't receive at all on LSB. Anyone else? Any ideas?

My Lincoln 2 plus V3 does not get hot just sitting idling, and it's a dual final radio. Now, it does get hot on the voltage regulator side if I talk lots.

Anyway, that radio should have a two year warranty. Might have to send it in for repair because it sounds like yours is overheating just idling.

I would think the heat to be an issue if my 980 didn't do the exact same thing (albeit without losing the receive on LSB)

Edit:// my Bill FCC gets nice 'n toasty sandbagging too.

I have a McKinley as well and I haven’t noticed anything weird on receive LSB. Don’t know how hot it’s getting since it’s dash mounted. I do have the RF pwr set at 2.5w though.

Never heard of them getting hot while just receiving and the LSB cutting out is definitely a problem where you want to send it into President. They should have a 2 year warranty - I'd give them a call. I think my radio is now 4 years old and I've had zero problems with daily use (I literally turn it on almost every day of the year).

Dove in a little deeper.

It's only the receive audio that cuts out, watching the meter it continues to receive, and some audio can be heard with volume all the way up.

Turning the radio off and back on while still in LSB brings back the LSB receive audio and I can rag chew until I change modes again, at which point I have to again turn the radio off/back on to get it back.

Weird shit, man.

I don’t want to hijack your thread but I did notice my radio is sometimes on a different channel when I turn it back on in the morning or after a long period. Besides that it works fine.

Probably antenna SWR related. RF getting back in. If you have a dummy antenna load, connect it and see if it does it.
Swr is around 1.4 so I don’t think that is the issue. I dunno , I’ve had nothing but problems ever since I put a radio in my truck! It’s just been a joke with one thing after the other. Sometimes people say I sound amazing other times I can get out to save my life. It’s been very odd to say the least.
