The other day i called Procomm about ordering a new top section for my Pat 12 since i broke the darn thing in half installing it this past winter in the cold. I figured they would simply send me one and charge me for it plus shipping and it would be no biggie. WRONGGGGGG! They told me that they would have the ask the company manager if its ok to sell an antenna section to someone that is not a dealer! WTF! They told me later that they cannot sell anything to a non dealer INCLUDING parts to someone that needs just one thing!!!! Yet another WTF moment!!!! I told them that was nonsense and they told me "sorry there is nothing we can do for you you will just have to buy another antenna!" Ohh, i was so pissed! I WILL NEVER AGAIN DO BUSINESS WITH PROCOMM!!!! So the PAT 12 and another antenna of theirs is awaiting the trash truck this am.. <can not stand it>*Don`t do it*

i know its not ideal, but can you not get one of their dealers to order you the part.

binning the stuff seems like cutting your nose off to spite your face.

That's a very common practice for manufactures that don't sell retail. If they sold parts there would be instances where they would be 'under cutting' their dealers. Or, how many would order 'parts' that they 'broke' and end up having a completely new and -separate- antenna? Unfortunately, that's not as uncommon as it may seem. Oh well.

I have run into the same thing, often they will just direct you to one of the dealers in your area.
It is common practice in the industrial equipment area as well.
I used to buy a lot of parts for cooling towers for large refrigeration systems.
One of the biggest suppliers was Baltimore Air Coil and the Factory was less than 1 hour from our Plant.
They only sell through there authorized factory dealers, never factory direct.
We would place the order through the dealer, and if we needed it in a hurry we could even pick it up right from the plant.....but it had to go through there dealer first....that is just the way they do it.
The other thing I have run into is were it will cost MORE to by factory direct than through the dealer, because the factory will sell at MSRP as opposed to the price of a dealer that gets a better price break because they by in lot sizes, not one item at a time.

Most Mfg. have gone this way(in All parts of the world)....
Hard to get Wholesale dealers to carry your products if the "General User" can buy "Factory Direct" also....
Even with a difference in cost between Retail and Wholesale....
Auto Industry started that in the 80's....by making all "walk-in" counter sales at the Dealer....MSRP....Big $$$...
Then when you get your repair...they show a "discount" for In-house service and parts....
That's why a $25,000 Dodge Charger would cost you $60,000+ if you purchased every part....so you could "Build it Yourself"....
Having been on "Both Sides" of the fence....I tend to agree with the practice....thou don't always like it....
All the Best

Ill likely just get the top part from my local shop and pay the high retail.. Sucks but oh well.
I didnt throw the antennas away. LOL

The lady on the phone was quite rude and treated me like an idiot. I wasnt very impressed with the company.

Rude indeed. At the very least she could have asked for your location and then given you the contact information for your nearest dealer.

If this is the way they treat the end user, I will never own any of their junk.

Thanks for the informative post.
