Hi all,
Sorry I haven't been around much. I've been busy with a project for someone.

The project?
First ever 100w Uniden Washington (8719) base with a Mega-watt S-350-12, 12a power supply and RFX95HD.

For me it's been a journey on this project. I first had to fix all issues, then recap, then swap out the regulator and finally realign it completely.

Then is when I started the conversion to the 12a power supply and mount the amp.

Outcome?
Beautiful.
Upon keying the amp for the first time, setting the deadkey to 18w, it runs cool to warm and produces right at 95w pep (around 63w peak).

I've had it turned on for the past 5 hours and I'll key up about every 20 minutes and hold a key for about 30 seconds. After about 15 seconds the key will gradually drop to around 15w and then slowly climb back up to just under 18w.

I have a video of the completion but I can't seem to get it to upload in here. I tried the "Attach Files" route and the "drag image" option. Both come back with memory errors.

Anyway, on to the next one.

Pretty cool for a Washington, I like it. Too bad it would not be practical for a shop to sell. 55 for the supply, 85 for the RFX, labor for the install and tune would be 100-130 ish. Then add some profit, probably cost 265-300 to have done.

A custom job that's worth doing for personal satisfaction may very well be too expensive to justify as a business proposition.

But compare this Washington to the skyrocketing price of RCI 100-plus Watt base radios. Wouldn't be a big profit, but finding the right buyer would be like selling a custom street rod finished with12 layers of hand-rubbed lacquer. Gotta find a buyer who wants it in the first place, and more important also HAS THE MONEY....

That magic combo won't come beating a path to your door. It'll take patience.

Wow, I say wow...

I just hooked it up to antron to check it out before sending it back to the owner.

I heard the UK, Northern Ireland, Scotland coming in perfect without touching clarifier. Their signals looked like locals. So, I figured what the hell and I keyed up for the UK. I was shocked, he came back to me immediately with a great signal report. Then the stations started calling me, wow. I talked to Scotland, northern Ireland, Spain, and a few other countries with no problems whatsoever, mostly on the first key.

This thang is bangin dawg, lol...
