undertaker, i to am makeing the switch. ive been running a uniden grant xl but am in the process of swapping it out for a doc tuned hr-2600 with chip switch, variable power, ect. i got a new hyundai accent and the altinator is about as big as a coffee cup. it should run the 2600 just fine though. great radios.

aw hell switchkit, i dont even want to start cause it would never end.lol. might end up with 2 batteries, oversized altinator, motor maul in the back seat. (my chihuahua wouldnt like his spot used up). i got a icom 706mk2g i might just put in it.

Was just wondering about that , I don't think I would ever go through that "unless" the price was a deal I couldn't refuse. In my case , best to stick with the gas miledge. ;)

Swapping out a Grant XL for a 2600.......nothing like swapping out a killer audio radio for a much milder radio with more toys. Bad move.

I have always gotten good audio reports with the stock mike on 10M sideband. I prefer to have the channel change capability. When the band is open that little radio will talk across the country with no problem. The noise blanker is one of the better ones as well. On a 2 tone 150 mv input to the mike I set the alc for 20 watts ssb and only an 8 watt carrier on am. In normal speech it will PEP about 10-15 watts. I have a small compressor/noise gate board based on a Analog Devices SSM2166 but have yet to install it. This last summer I could usually check in to a 10M net every Monday night run from Jax,FL from the Midwest with not much of a problem thanks to considerate operators. International DX is a real possibility with that radio in a couple of years when the Solar Index gets back up around 100.
Enjoy your Lincoln
Tom
