Question about (export ) radios

Yes I am sure the marketing guys at Yaesu had their ear to the ground in the marketing of the 101 radios.



I had a contact inside Yaesu, that said that 30 to 40 percent of the 101 radios where going to other than the ham market. So I am sure there was bunch of the radios going to the 11 meter band. Which wasn't a really bad thing since the radios where cleaner, and introduced amateur radio to the 11 meter guys.

I assume you were talking about the 2950. Below is an F C C hit list on a retailer that includes the 2950 in it's list of illegal radios.

(by the way it was Cyclops1970 post that made the comment about"self respcting Ham" unless you are he ???)

We will see what the next solar cycle brings. Increased activity on the band sells more equipment and maybe a few new manufacturers will pop up? Does the FCC have their ducks in a row now? Or will they slowly deregulate the 11m band?

We're getting close (to cycle 25). Last week a sunspot showed up with 25's "fingerprints"...as for the FCC and it's ducks, I've always had a suspicion that companies with deep pockets paved the way for the FCC to look the other way when it came to certain rigs (yes, they still made smaller insignificant busts) because the $$$ changing hands was too good to completely cut it off - but I'm probably wrong in my suspicions...

The comments with the last changes to the part 95 didn’t appear show any willingness to deregulate (with respect to frequencies, modes, or power limits). Who knows what they’re thinking, lol.
