50.100 to 50.125 is the SSB (USB) DX window. North American stations do not call CQ in this window but can work any international DX stations calling CQ/QRZ. 50.125 is the NA calling frequency but you can call CQ on any freq in the SSB portion, generally 50.125 to 50.200. Most mornings east of the Mississippi there may be some traffic on 50.145, from just before sunup and lasting for 1-2 hours.

Thank you. That clears up some of the confusion I had for probably many many years and never got to use 6m. I will have to make that dipole my Elmer always talked about to make on 6m. A rotatable dipole from some copper tubing and a plastic T connector lol. May he rest in peace. His callsign was K7NNV. 2022 is when he went SK.

Copper tubing waste of money for dipole...EMT conduit...1/2" or 3/4" inch fine...Alm tubing cheaper also. I had a ALM rotatable dipole at abt 45 ft for over a year...Worked great, worked all states East of Miss. River, also Africa/Azores and Canary Is...


Add a fourth element to make 4 element total...turn with cheap TV rotor or "Armstrong" rotor :coffee: :love:
Stack a pair of 4's...WOW...Even "stacked Dipoles' will make good Eskip antenna...
2 element Full size Yagi nice also!!!~

Appreciate it. I did save some aluminum tubing from a bed I recently took out of the house. That may work out just fine. :)

You only need Two pieces 56 inches long...be easy to tune if the tubing would slide together

Although I have not been on the air, I have been told there has been a huge shift to FT-8 on 6m and from looking at the DX clusters I believe it.

Sad to say, seems so CK...Many of the 6m op's have taken to "lazy" way out and going with some "digi" mode...OK FB...That is why I still promote SSB/CW and many are following worldwide.
We still have quite a few on EVERY morning from 11:30z to 13:00z+ on 50.145 USB...I'll average 5-6 US States every morning...couple weeks ago had 11 states /several VE-VA's...all in about a hour...Yea 6m never open:cool:

Many years ago I dabbled a bit with RTTY and SSTV and a bit of PSK but just to say I did it. I will ALWAYS resort to SSB as it is more personal. As for FT-8...........I want to talk to someone, not have my computer talk to someone else's computer.
