Radiant Barrier and attic antennas

No tree in the back yard, I'll have to dig up the HOA paperwork to see if I can put up a "flag pole". If I had to guess, it's going to be a no. I can't stand living in a neighborhood being that I was raised in the woods of Georgia, but I'm stuck here for a few more years.
I think for the time being I will peruse an eve mounted Dipole. It will be a horizontal design based off of my eaves. I do have aluminum gutters but will see how it goes. I'm going to try and keep the antenna away from the gutters and just see how well it works.

Gutters can make decent antennas on some of the HF bands but tend to be not so good on 10 or 11 meters because they are usually too long to be efficient radiators for those bands. You may have been joking about the gutters not handing lots of watts but that is the case. They have bad electrical connections between all the joints and sometimes the screw and nail tips that hold them in place can become prime target areas for corona arcs to occur. You don't want that happening against your wood siding or foil backing at 1500 watts.Shade , I use my gutters & spouts as & antenna for my SW , works well . 11m ? Jury is still out on that ? Guess it would work but for now I'll stick w/ my low $ A-99 .I don't think my gutters could handle the watts .
You may find and old antenna on the roof no longer in use. I've loaded up TV antennas by using the down lead as a single long wire. The key with these suggestions is they all act like some sort of long wire and are very dependent on proper, low inductance RF grounding to the antenna tuner. You're not dealing with a balanced antenna here and a good counterpoise is required. That could be as simple as a cold water pipe or 1/4 wave wire hidden inside if burring copper and connecting to it is not an option.

Shock , Joking yes , besides I wouldn't want those rivets to fly out & the gutters on the ground in a heap . My luck I'd kill one of the many little birds I feed w/ a rivet . I have talk DX w/ an op in TX . He had a wire strung in his attic . But I don't know if he had that barrier , but thanks to Mother Nature he sounded awesome and I was amazed to say the least !
