Mobile Ram 1500 antenna

Ha Nick LMR not good for radio communications do the test LMR verses 50ome Rg8u stranded solid copper center ? Lmr i s for computer use just ask dx.com,...73.

??? LMR400 not good for radio??? RG8U is better? LOL....

For the same length of coax/jumper, the LMR will get more power to the antenna and more signal to the radio. In what way is RG8U better?

Dx.com doesn't have any coax for sale. What "test" are you speaking of?

Here's tuned 1/2 wave LMR400 jumpers feeding a Predator 10K on a Mag mount from a Sweet 16 with 4 watts reflect and 1300+ out on the Bird 43.

Know I see why you have such hi SWR.lol get the lmr out of the tool box and away from the power supply source what a mess good luck 73,
This summer I've been making a few upgrades to the station and now I've installed a 3 element 6 meter yagi on the roof. In the past, I've just tuned my Alpha Delta DX-CC multiband dipole for 6m, but I've been wanting a proper small yagi for quite some time. So I pulled the trigger on the M2 6M3, bought a new rotator and got it on the roof.

While light weight, this antenna is built like a tank and will last for years with little to no maintenance. All of the materials are top quality. The tuning instructions for the T match and element lengths where clear and concise, making the job easy. I added a few Palomar Mix 31 ferrite split beads on the LMR 400 for good measure.

The old TV rotator I used on this vent pipe for the previous 2M antenna was shot (it was pretty old), so it was time to toss in the trash and buy a new one. I picked up a new RCA TV antenna rotator, which has zero problems with an antenna of this size. This rotator is the same one sold through Ameritron and rebranded, but you'll get it for less money through Amazon.

The new controllers have memory buttons. I programed button B for North and J for South, and just went around the compass using the other letters in the grid. Pretty easy.

It would be nice to have this mounted on a tower, but for the home owner in the big city, this antenna mounted on the roof at about 15 feet works remarkably well. Gain is very noticeable over the tuned dipole with a 40' feed point, Plus, the nulls in the antenna pattern really help with unwanted stations. This antenna can handle a ton of power (3KW), which means it makes a nice match for my Elecraft KPA1500 legal limit amplifier.

Here are the specs from M2 for the antenna:

Ha Nick LMR not good for radio communications

Citation Needed, and with all due respect, its going to have to be one hell of a citation.

do the test LMR verses 50ome Rg8u stranded solid copper center ?

I have run multiple tests with both types of coax and many others. LMR-400 works fine for radio. There is a very good reason that many think it is the best coax out there.

Lmr i s for computer use

Actually, if you bother to look at the LMR-400 data sheet, here is a link for you, right at the top it says it is for "Any application", and in parenthesis as one of the options, "Mobile Antennas" is clearly stated. Its literally right on the data sheet provided by Times Microwave, you know, the company that makes LMR-400... Further, as someone who has worked in the computer industry for many years, computers don't use coax. The closest thing they get to using coax is a separate wireless network antenna, which is, get this, a form of radio communications... Aside from that, they used to use 50 ohm coax 30 to 35 years ago for some networks, but they never used anything other than RG-58 for those. There was simply no need for anything better.

just ask dx.com

Have you even been to dx.com? A web site that calls itself deal extreme? That isn't the DX that we talk about in radio so I wouldn't recommend trying to use that as a reference for anything...

Ha Nick LMR not good for radio communications do the test LMR verses 50ome Rg8u stranded solid copper center ? Lmr i s for computer use just ask dx.com,well I am going to give 2 striker mag mount type a try manufacturer of striker A-10 a try this week they say 5Ft apart figure 8 the 18_ft of cable use one t out from the radio to the t Rg8u should work well for that lower SWR.and if I get hi swr out of them its back to the Browning Br-28 for that flat one SWR,73.

LOL.
what???

starting to think this is a bot.
LC

Ok LMR is for computer use only go do some research and home Work as well 58,is junk!! 50ome Rg8u is the best results for radio communication and your LMR.is junk for radio communication I have been installing antennas for cb&ham Radio over 3000*installed over 40years experience and all SWR a flat one. Long distance dxing is my game and if you don't have a flat one SWR you will never hear that long distance dx or be able to transmit to that long distance dx .73!!!

He is new here and has fallen victim to a few myths about coax and antennas.

I would encourage JSC to take a little time and read through the years of threads here with a open mind and learn.

Just like the
" you need 100 feet of coax for low SWR."
False.
A long lossy chunk of coax will show good SWR on the radio end while increasing loss on TX and RX.

that is where you are wrong have fun with them hi SWR.good luck And it looks like you don't know how to tune your Radio equipment as well !!!!73.

Well you are

looking at Chinese junk.usa.RG8u.stranded pleas go do your home work 1st 73

ok maybe not a bot. more like a troll.

Just in case you are a real person and maybe just a bit dense, if you are going to come on to a radio forum and say stupid things, be prepared to defend them.

for example, saying that one brand of coax is for one thing and another brand of coax is for another is a stupid thing to say.

now please enlighten us with your evidence to support your claim.
LC

And let me ges high on an antenna dose not matter think again that all so helps your SWR.as well on that flat one SWR on all channels 73.

I think you have LMR 400 confused with some other coax.

What brand RG-8U do you use?

Well so you s

Well so you say!! Stupid people like you put your SWR and your antenna set up where you .mouth is my antenna set up will Kik your ass in cb&ham Radio all day long distance dxing is my game over years of experience and learning from the old school men that are ded know god bless them ,cqcqcq dx don't call some one stupid you are a waste of time 73!!

So I got so frustrated with mounting an antenna to the truck I pretty much gave up and went with a Wilson 5000 mag mount. SWR 1.3 to 1. My friend had a striker a 10 mag mount put that on my truck SWR down to 1.04 to 1. On the analyzer. That is with a striker 955HPC. Now I found a ranger 2970N4 with an Astatic 575 locally that I purchased. Will I be able to use that mag mount? I highly doubt it but maybe. Have not installed the radio yet. Don’t have a long enough power cord. From trying to install an antenna in the driver side back stake pocket I do have LMR 400 but the mounts are horrible. Any recommendations? I could not get the SWR‘s with 102 inch whip below 1.4 to 1. I do have a AA 55 antenna analyzer. Need help. Thank you.
I have the Breedlove Stake Pocket Mount with the Breedlove Quick-Release Mount and a 102" whip with spring, installed on the forward driver's side stake pocket.
