Random 250 question.

Update - finally got around to final reassembly of this thing......

- new heat sink cut to size, holes drilled, tapped n deburred, component side surfaced with machinist whet stone, heat transfer compound cleaned off of transistors and then mounted.

- heatsink was about 1/2" too narrow, so I filled the gap at the cover screws with plastic spacers.......I sure hope this sucker works......

Well? Not being an ass but why not test it before restoring it?

Hopefully you used some more bird sh!t after cleaning off the old and remounting them!

FWIW nothing appeared obviously burnt including the Base "Smoke" resistors.

However over driving the piss out of the little motorolas just causes them to go open, not short.

So here's to ya Blacksmith!

It used to say 250 plus on the front , worn off through the years.

Here is the 600 plus.
And the one KW
I had a high school friend that had the TNT 12 pack, all MRF 492 transistors in it that was a monster.

I have always had a soft spot for tnt amps (nostalgia sake). When i was a young kid in hawaii around 1979, the first amp i saw was the tnt 12 pack. Its was on the floor of a guys little Nissan truck, filled up the whole floor. He was using a president jackson and talking skip on the mini bowl ch11. Everyone was calling his name. I was so excited to watch that. Lol,

Forgot that I had to buy a tube of bird shit, so I guess I have around $40 invested........supposed to really put that stuff on super thick right ?

Todd

No. A thin layer is best, you want all the metal to metal contact you can get, heat sink compound just fills the small imperfections so you don't want a big glob of it under them.

Sorry for my sarcasm, just like to have a laugh, I did apply very thin. The tube must have sat for a few years, had to squeeze some separated stuff out before getting into the good.
