Try taking the covers off. I had a stryker 955 that had a very similar issue right out of the box. It would only misbehave with the bottom cover installed....I'm curious.
That's usually an indication of insufficient shielding within the unit itself. Even though the cover is grounded, it can still reflect output signal, back into the input stages. The problematic area can often be located by slowly sliding the cover over the equipment and noting where the problem starts. Shielding over or around that area can fix the problem. It did on oscillations in the driver stage of the FT-857 on 6 meters.
