RCI 2980/Galaxy 2517?? Any Comments on either?

Oh no 124... My friends mind is made up, He's going to get an X-Force Base amp... Here's what his station will be...

Galaxy 2517 Base (Probably with the Top Gun MOD Board)
X Force XT-40012
Silver Salute Desk Mic
Imax 2000 up about 70' to 90'

Neither one of us has neighbors to worry about either.

I was just wondering about the KLV because I have seen them advertised a time or 2 but had a heckuva time finding anything about them until today when I stumbled across this forum.

well he might wanna take the extra time with that setup and properly ground it. wil help with the splatetr quite a bit as well as quiet down his receive. lots o people think it is pointless but it really does help. i do not know how much an xforce splatter bein i have never run one, but from what i have heard class c ain't to clean. anywho good luck to your buddy in his adventure

Thanks 123... I have been hearing alot of people say that the x force splatters the heck out of things.

I am going to give the KLV 1000 a try and let him borrow it to see how it sounds to me.

I have heard mixed reviews about these also. But I have always liked the sound of the Tube amp better...

So I will see how this one does.

Galaxy 2517

I use the Galaxy 2517 with a 575-m6 mic and X-Force 20012 HD, I have a Imax at 42ft and a maco 4 element on the flat at 50ft and everything very well grounded and I've never had a problem with splatter, I've talk to my neighbors, one which is my Dad and no problems!! The only problem that I had is when I bought a heil clear speech DSP speaker, I was getting RF feedback thru the speaker when the amp was on but after I grounded it, feedback went away! I had some power supply problems with the 2517 in the beginning, but everything now is working great! the only problem I have now is I'm told daily your to loud???

If you are going with a Galaxy, Try to find a 2527. Updated board and better Rec than a 2517. Jumper switches to add xtra freqs. Plus it has a scanning fuction. Great to find some talking at night on any band.

the weak link here is the Silver Salute (IN MY OPINION) they sound YUCKY!
tell him (beg him) to buy a clean D104 off ebay. no comparison. NONE.
silver salute is not even in the same league as a hand held D104.
