rci 2980wx help

Well! That's good news, you just don't hear the audio.

So that tells a few things.

By the S-meter - the signal gets all the way to the meter.

RF Gain, though, does not work. Correct?

Reading your first post.

You will have to test for voltages at that IC - but you should try and see if you can get any hum noise by tapping a fine tip tool to use yourself as an antenna to see if any noises come thru the radio's speaker - by Q13 - carefully.

Use schematic above to help guide you to touch the tip on a capacitor leg and listen for noise thru that speaker.

Because by the reference of some type of RF amp mod, and a few problems with putting this thing all back together - it sounds like cascaded failure.

Not that this has any effect on the receive problem, but,

With R264 cut, how do you adjust the AM(and FM) Carrier level?
Unless there is a resistor soldered on the back side of the board in R264's place?

Also, the Base leg of Q57 is cut.
