Hello all, I wanna get back on the air. My 2995dx has been sitting in a box in the closet for over a year. I want to get it looked over and aligned. Anyone have any suggestions. This thing was bought years ago with an EEI supertune, I know some of you remember that place. I'm sure it will need some tweaking and possible a mod limiter put back in. I want the work done right this time any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Kamikaze

unfortunately i do remember that place and the left over places still around that are made up of those people.

but i would just plug that 2995dx in and run it. its all surface mount. should be just fine. they probly didnt do anything to it.
dont go trying to fix something that isnt broken.

I remember EEI.. I have to say that my 2950DX was Super Tune also and it's work's just fine.. And that was 6 year's ago.
Run that 2995Dx and have fun with it..

One of my locals also purchased a modified RCI 2990 from EEI many years ago. He has never had any problems with the radio and in my opinion it's a great sounding radio.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the input guys, I was more concerned about it being in storage for so long without being used. I am still looking around for my best way to go for an antenna also. This new place has got me strapped for money. I have my old I-max but was wanting something a little better on recieve. Was thinking of building a 2 element cubical quad but im not sure I have the skill to do it without blowing up that $500 radio. I suppose I will stick with the I-max for a while and rig something else up later. But you all are correct, I did get great reports most of the time DX and local. I do however need to invest in that fan RCI makes as that puppy gets HOT!!! if you key it for more than 20-30 seconds at a time even on low power. Hope to be hearing some of you on the airwaves soon!! Kamikaze CDX 255

Ask Richard, from 8541 Electronics, he has repaired many "turblow tuned" rigs, mine included.

Why would anyone want to have a radio repaired that is obviously not broken ??????????

Not so much a repair, but removing bad mods and tuneup, and then doing a thorough alignment/tune, doing it the right way, with the proper test equipment. The EEI Turbo-Tune will eventually cause the radio to die, and they never even touched the RX. Not to even mention how it is probably dirty as hell on TX.

Export radios really NEED to be aligned after they are converted to 11 meters, especially the RX. They are nowhere near working as well as they can until this is done. When my Turbo-Tuned Galaxy 2517 came back from Richard, it was like a completely different radio. I was shocked to find how much I was missing before.

My locals 6 or 7 year old RCI 2990 which was modified/tuned by EEI has been working very well without any problems.
In my opinion the radio sounds great on TX/AM and the RX works just as well as any other aligned/tuned Galaxy-Ranger base radio that I have ever heard.
