I have four radios one is brand new. I have a brand new Solarcon a 99 antenna and new RG 8X coax. My coax run is 100 feet. My antenna is about 25 feet to the base. I cannot get over 1 mile or so with four watts or 100 watts. I cannot figure this out. My standing wave is excellent. 1.1 on channel 1. Any ideas? I do not know how to diagnose this problem. I have marginal receive.

Something is not right for sure according to your numbers . Do you have a watt meter in line ? Did you check SWR on 40 ? People on here as of late have been having problems w/ New A-99's but SWR 1.1 on channel 1 ?

at 25 feet you should be able to talk long way
something is wrong check your patch cords coax.
sorry i cant be more help. try going direct to the radio.coax wise

Yea I have a water meter in line. Putting out good wattage on route all radios. My standing wave is About 1.1 on channel 1 and about 1.35 on channel 40. My antenna Is on a tower attached to my house. I’m going to try to move it to the middle of my yard and attach 20 more feet to the antenna. Kind of feel like a mechanic that’s throwing parts at your car to get it fixed. I may have access to another antenna and coax to try that. I’ve never ran in this situation before. I used to have a radio at my location and could transmit eight or 10 miles on a stock four what radio. I know atmospheric conditions are a little different now.

also are you in a valley
Yeah I’m in a little bit of a valley but my antennas should be able to see over the top of the hill. But that’s why am going to add another section of two just to see what happens. I mean I guess it can only be like two or three things I can try. Raise my antenna, new antenna or new cable. The first thing is I’m going to raise the antenna. I think that might help no matter what. The only downfall is I may have to run nearly 200 feet of cable.

Try a different water meter. Even if you are in a valley the range should be no less than 5 miles. The only way this makes sense is if skip is strong.
