It's really neat all the things you can pick up out there.

Hook948,

OK you have the FT840, so tell us about it. I have been very interested in this radio. What have you been listening too? Have you done any mods to it? I heard the FT840 works very very well for 11 meter ssb. So what do you think of it? And what do the people think of it who hear it?

Hello Main, Only been talkin on it for a couple days now but LOVE it. Just the "feel" of it is awesome.GREAT ears. Using the factory hand held mic.I have got many flowers on how it sounds. While searching through all the freq.s,you can pick up alot of hams and alot of broadcast stations from all over the world. The first nite I hooked it up it wouldn't TX ( loose wire on mic) so I just flipped around to see what all I could hear. I stopped on 1 freq. 8.???? (cant remember)and after about 5 seconds of listening my blood pressure went so high I probably would have broken the meter on a tester. It was a talk show with a couple of rag heads saying things like "I dont think they are brave enough to come over here" and "I hope the U.S. does come over here because we will wipe them all out. They don't realize who they are dealing with" etc etc .Then I realized that if it was a "real" talk show from over there I wouldn't be able to understand them-They wouldn't be speaking english. I guess it was just some BS they were broadcasting to try to make us mad enough to make some kinda mistake or something.Who knows? Anyways I had been looking at the 840 for quite a while and now only wish I had got one sooner. After listening to all the different freq.s I believe it has given me the boost to study a little more and go ahead and get my Ham license. 73's
