RF Limited RFX95HD

Hook it up before mounting it. Try it out. If you like it then mount it. If you don’t , no harm no foul.

I believe the directions say not to exceed 40pep. I believe you’ll be fine with that radio, I’ve done a few and they’ve all give the same results.

TRPC,

you might try removing the swing kit from the 29 and see how that affects your output and swing ratio.

I used to find with the RFX75 units (i have put quite a few of those things on 29's) that they had very good swing without that mod, and IMO actually sounded better.

i've never messed with the 95's but i am curious to know what difference the swing kit made.

Well I’ll have to build another one because that one was for a customer and that’s how he wanted it done. I think you’d still have to turn the carrier down in the radio but I guess we can find out.

I have a new 29LX that I guess we can experiment on. I’ll get it cobbled together and I’ll let you know what happens. How’s that?

I may just have to go for it as soon as I get some free time to experiment with one. Sounds like a late Saturday night on the bench kind of of thing

Should not need a swing kit. Should swing dramatically without it.

Well Larry, it’s not about you, it’s about the consumer...

<insert Joe Dirt GIF here>

When you’re working for someone else, you do as they say not as you want to do. The guy I built that radio for said that was what he wanted, so that’s what he got, cause he was paying me.

But I shall build another one sans swing kit and see we shall, see we shall my friends.

Any thoughts on how these work at lower drive/output levels?

I would be interested in something that puts out power the equivalent of a hot tune on a dual final export while loafing along to do so.

I may have to grab a couple of these. It would be a long time before I could do anything with one but they're available now.

Better grab em while you can because word is they might not be available for a while or maybe at all.

I just put one in a connex 3300 and now have no transmit at all, with it on or off. Figures. UGH!
Check double check and triple check your work. A solder blob is sometimes the culprit, I've even found them nowhere near where I was working lol. Somehow flinging just enough to cause the issue. All else fails call the Palomar boys, maybe they'll give you some advice or if you possibly got a lemon they'll help you there too

Okay.

When a pro, someone who does this stuff every day modifies a working radio, and then the radio won't work, there's a logical next step.

Find out what went wrong with the modification.

A radio that worked before and won't work now presents us with one and only one logical conclusion.

Something about the modification procedure did not go as planned.

The suggestions of "check your work" are based on this simple and easy-to-understand logic.

At least that's what I do when a modification won't work as desired.

And yes, I do this stuff every day.

Agreed.

Double check your work. Make sure you have the cables connected correctly and make sure you have the 8v correct too. Coax ground connections together and properly grounded?

Possible you got a bad one but you have to make sure it’s not an error on your end first.
