RM-3 MOSFET TRANSISTOR

The "RM3", also known as 2N6045, is a 75 watt/100v NPN power transistor. The mystery behind the RM3 is they use what ever transistors they get their hands on in bulk pricing and cross the factory stand and restamp the transistors, in house, with the RM3 number. Not all RM3 transistors that come from RM Italy are the same, there is about 15 different variations that have been used over the years.
This is a old post but completely wrong. If you tested a RM3 you would know that it is a mosfet it is not NPN transistor!

Here's the PDF for that - its a Darling -

A Darlington - that is...

PDF covers the whole series...
Hi Handy Andy. Is the Darlington 2N6045 a mosfet transistor that can replace the Italy RM3? For a Italy 703 Kl that has 16 RM3s do I need to find 16 that are matched for replacement? If that is the case where do I find 16 matched 2N6045s?

Thanks for any help here

As said earlier - the part you're looking for is a MOSFET - I was only getting info for the user that cross referenced a different part for a BIPOLAR transistor

Although others will say this is a IRFZ224N part...

IT may also be RECTRON RM30N100T2 - a TO-220 package similar in performance...

Both Pinouts are similar Pin Assignment...

Sorry for the Confusion...

You have to decide for yourself...

Either of these will work to replace the original RM3s? Is it possible to get these as a matched set of 16? Thanks again.

"matched" is a needle in a haystack maneuver - best to buy all your MOSFETS at the same time from same source and verify that the codes stamped on the package match - no matches suggest the parts may have been sourced from different bins of parts made at different times and even different locations.

Might need to buy this in volume bulk of nearly twice the initial count then sell the rest off to eBay if you get the job done well enough to make the amp work with the parts you got - spares can be sold off...

You might not have much success finding exacts - so be ready...

(Psst...it's close to Xmas) They make great Gifts...at least for the CB'ers like we are...

Thanks for the advise sir!

Just tell them you need 16 matched to fix your 703 and they will send you a price. Its not too bad. At least a good chance the 703 will work properly again.

There ya' go!

It would be cheaper in the long run, they invested into the Lot purchase for their own - so if they are willing to sell off doing the same as suggested earlier - makes perfect sense.

In light of the economics of the situation - it would be prudent to act now and not wait for another opportunity - it may be too cost prohibitive. Trends are showing prices going higher...

Thank you @magnuman !

Hi again. Still trying to learn here. What is the difference between IRF and ERF mosfet transistors? Is a IRF9530 a good replacement for a ERF9530 moset in a amplifier? Would the IRF9530 also work as a replacement in a RM Italy amplifier?
As always thanks for your valued advice.
