After the less than stellar reviews I have read on the FFC4, I am having sellers remorse from letting go of my S9. I know there are "better" radios for every individual but, Out of the two mentioned, which one would you choose?

Of the two I would take the S9-175 over a Galaxy 98 VHP any day. Two locals had the Galaxy 98's, they rocked on AM and drifted like a sailboat on SSB. They no longer have them as well.

Add me to the 'none of the above' crowd. I've just never liked the built-in high power radios. They get too hot and that causes problems.

buying new i'd get the Magnum, but i would rather have a used Galaxy 95T. i use one now and like it much better then even my RCI 2970 or 2950's. the Galaxy 95T is i think the best Galaxy made and i have had a few. very stable on SSB after about 5min. only thing i like about the RCI 50's & 70's is the VFO tuning. i use it on 10 meters and have been getting great reports from the hamster audiophiles. the galaxy 98vhp is exactly what was said above great on am but a little drifty on SSB. but you can;t go wrong with a Magnum product. if for the rare reason you need repair ther customer service is excellent but they make a rock solid radio. i still have my Magnum s9 but like the Galaxy much better. plus the Magnum and Galaxy 95T have the 6th diget counter.

Why GLR, I do believe you are getting senile in your old age!

You should remember he is one of the owners of the hate filled forum where I am an Admin.

Ahh..makes sense now.

Now I see why you just called him "bear". Seems rather alternative lifestylish to be hanging around with, much less volunteering your services to another grown man known as "Papa Bear".
