Satellite dishes are protected by federal law but not amateur antennas?

Jeff you said internet. Does that apply to television service as well? I know there has long been satellite internet services that were up/downlink but was not aware that they have become much more popular than before. I see that Xplornet is providing that service up here. I guess I just assumed the question was about satellite TV dishes which in fact do NOT transmit so in that respect I was right however where I was wrong was in that I assumed something.

I would also Assume that something like Dish Network would be Rx only.
Most people up here get. Sat internet and then use a service like Hulu.
Dish is not as popular up here as it was in the past.
There is only one choice for land line phone up here, they got that locked down and they know it.

I called The Satellite company again just to verify the landline question and got to speak to one of the Technicians. He verified that there was no landline required, It is the same system that is used by the U.S. Military and they are required to have the least amount of "Latency" possible. There are no land lines over in the "Sandbox" and yet you see people talking over the video Phone Network and they do not have the awkward pauses.

I do satellite installs. I have done some satellite internet installs. The dish does transmit. No phone line needed. The instructions are very clear about not putting my head or hands between the dish and the feed assembly. RF power not healthy at that level apparently. I have no question in my mind I would not do well to challenge that claim.
