Sears Roadtalker 40 CM-4700S 934.38260700 Clarifier Unlock

Here is a quick guide on how to unlock the Sears Roadtalker 40
CM-4700S 934.38260700 clarifier. Pictures help so I crudly used
Microsoft Paint to outline the areas of interest. Hope this helps
others out there. I added to the instructions I found. A heads up, you can probably tin the blue wire and put it on through from the top where the IC502 is for a cleaner install.

Found the steps over at archive.org
https://archive.org/stream/SECRETCBVOLUME10/SECRET_CB_VOLUME_10_djvu.txt

1: Locate HP2-3 connector. Cut the wire that goes over
to one end of the Fine Tune control (BLUE WIRE) . Resolder this
wire to pin 3 of IC502 voltage regulator so the fine
tune control is fed with a steady 8 volt source.

2: Connect the other end of the Fine tune control (RED WIRE) to
ground by shorting out R711. This in return behaves the same way as if you cut and soldered the red wire to the PCB ground. (Idiot me accidentally cut it like I did the blue wire, so just ran it underneath near the same area.)

3: Cut one end of R702 loose. It is under the metal cover behind the channel selector. I used some small fine tipped snippers to get 1 end cut. (I just was being lazy to take it all apart just to remove 1 side of the resistor if I were to desolder it.)

4: Replace D702 with a Super Clarifier Diode for more
slide . (Optional. I did not do this as I don't want the Fine Tune to become super sensitive.)

*** After this, My Fine Tune control is only off to the left at the 11 o'clock position. I don't mind it as I don't want to mess with adjusting each mode while its at 12 o'clock position.***

For frequency expansion, use the standard SM5104G mod.
as in Volume 6, pages 26 & 27 for this set.

Thank you. :) I wish I was a pro at it, but it was just pictures with my Samsung S23 phone, and that was taken much further out than in those pictures. I just was able to crop it and still was detailed enough to see the area.

I will do the Kraco SSB De Luxe base and the mobile version once I can get to the radio again. It is on the top shelf in the garage lol. Need to borrow my brothers ladder again.
