1) Illegal activities.....draw your own conclusions.
2) Lawsuits
3) Trust funders
4) Political lobbyists :laugh:
5) Politicians.....also see #1

Agreed.
The $6500 for the amp is a small part of the price. An array of custom 300+ amp alternators, large battery banks, antennas, and a special vehicle to put all this in.
I estimate the total cost to be in the $30,000-$40,000 range....just to play radio and nothing else. You must also have RF Parts on speed dial.
And I thought spending a bunch of cash on a 2x8 base amp was costly.

i guess nobody told the guys down under about the size of the.....never mind.

There is a member here on this forum, (un-named) that had a amp built for him.
A 1x4x16.
All in one case.
When he got the thing he had not a clue what he would need to run it.
Next thing you know he is posting all over the forum looking for a ""cheap"" 400 amp motor maul.
Still not understanding that he needed a whole bank of batteries to run the motor maul.
Still not understanding he has to have a way to charge the batteries, because the stock 60 amp alt in his little 4 cylinder is not going to live long ( IF it can develop enough hp to keep it spinning)( IF it will turn without shredding the drive belt) trying to keep the batteries up.
And I would not recommend Mini 8 for coax.
Or a Wilson 5000 mag mount
Oh, and do not even try to turn up the volts on a box with a built in driver, or two.....Or....or....or.....

Oh, and as for having RF parts on Speed dial :
