That capacitor is very finicky. Workable readings one second and bizarre ones the next.

I wonder if it has some oxidation on the vari cap from sitting over the years?
Might give it a shot of cleaner and work it a bit to see if it stabilizes maybe?
That was a expensive antenna , well now it is.

I did just that before putting it up. The antenna went up only after an analyzer confirmed that readings were where they should be. I took it down last night and will give it another blast this morning. It is expensive enough that I'd like to get a few years use out of it - though everything rusts/oxidizes in the environment down here.
