Sideband mobile CB with best/most audio

With the current offerings of cb radios, it's hard to get big audio without doing a bunch of mods. For straight out of the box big audio and great receive I would say the Galaxy 86v. Doesn't sailboat like the older Galaxies either and the price is right. The 6666 has great transmit audio, but the receive has too much white noise for me. The Stryker 955 has awesome audio but I feel it is overpriced. Not much else in the big audio now days.

955 that's my mobile rig and it's one of the best 10/11 meter radios I've ever owned.

I think the radio that I used with great loud Audio was the Ranger AR3500 I had 2 of the 100w models and they sounded great ....even better with a turner +3, Last one I sold was over 15yrs ago and still kicking my ass for doing so.

I've always had good reports of my 2950s.
That's backed with either Turner Plus Three or Sadelta Echomaster or Astatic Echomax though not on stock mic.

I run a 955 in my shack with rack gear and a 4 pill. Big, clean audio on AM and sideband, I always get compliments. I just wish the controls had a more quality feel, especially the channel selector.

I finally unboxed my AT-6666 about 6 months ago. I had the same feeling about the white noise as well but soon found the Hi Cut filter, turned it on and haven't thought about white noise since then. Although it has never been in AM mode.

Hi cut filter was the first thing I turned on. Just like the Stryker 955HPC. Not bad at all.

I tried the hi cut filter too, it seems to cut out too much for my liking. I am going to try a 100 microfarad capacitor across the speaker leads, it seems to make other radios just right.

Sweet! That’s what I did to my Cobra 18. Put a .1uf cap on the on/off wiper to ground and it cut a ton of sizzle. Maybe I could have gone with a lower value but that’s all I had.
