Siltronix 1011d no filament voltage. In need of a transformer

You'll probably have to buy an entire junk radio to get that part. I never remember that transformer failing outside of a lightning stroke to the utility pole behind the operator's house.

Of the hundreds of that radio we serviced back in the 70s and 80s I never saw a partial failure like yours. First time for everything as they say.

But you're in the same boat as someone who needs a dealer-only part for a 1978 car. Except in this case the "dealer" was Swan, the vendor who made the radio. They've been gone for nearly 40 years.

In this case you'll need to be your own junkyard once you locate a donor radio.

Ok. I'm own my own for doing repairs as the "techs" here are cb guys that only work on easy shit. None can do more than peak and tunes.

That's funny because your diagnosis is most likely incorrect. The odds of an open filament winding in a Siltronics, are very unlikely. These transformers almost always fail with a short and if it's an open, it's almost always going to be in the primary. Don't get mad at us because you cannot follow simple instructions to replace a missing 12 volt filament supply. It really couldn't get any easier, if that's actually the problem. If our explanations baffle you, you definitely need to send that Siltronics to a qualified service person.

Someone once gave me a Yaesu FT-101E for free because it had beat finals. I later gave it to a friend that had a pair of 31JS6Cs tubes and a small variac. Can you guess what we did the light the filaments? It's probably the only Yaesu around with a variac bolted to the back where the DC to DC converter once was. At the last moment we decided to drill a hole through the pointer on the knob in order to put a screw through it and lock the variac at 31 volts.

Did I show any sort of "anger" anywhere in my post or replies? Maybe I'm kinda busy at the moment and put the radio aside. I do have a life!!

Not for nothing however, that is a classic example of being a condescending jerk. It was as though you didn't even read the responses you received, before making that post. In any event, relax, we were only trying to help and there are many members in this forum, with lots of technical skills able to do that.

How you are treated here, is often the result of how you treat others. I know this because, I too can be a condescending jerk at times.

I cleaned this up, it was not going to end well.
I am not sure if you expected someone to just have this part sitting around or a part number in stock from mouser but why cop a attitude when members are trying to help?

Good day, I have an Icom IC910H radio. I want to program a memory with split frequency tone on TX only and NO tone on RX,. Is this possible to do from the face of the radio? I don't have the interface to connect to a computer.
  • @ crappykraco:
@Deon very unlikely to get a response here. You are better off starting a thread on the topic.
