If anyone has installed a Sirio 5000 on the SG-AC/U body mount, I'd really appreciate a close up photo of the mount installed with antenna attached.

I'd also like your opinion of the mount & antenna combination

Camaro- what puzzled me was that the bottom fitting (against the vehicle body) is narrower than the bottom of the antenna. When I tighten down on it the wider bottom gasket (that comes with the antenna) does not seem to fit right/keep its shape as you tighten it down, not conforming to the narrower base. So is the bottom gasket meant to be used in this application? Looks like it in pics you attached

I did use the gasket/seal and I did notice the same thing,, so I just put it snug and not over tight and it seems fine

Well that makes me feel better... was initially worried that water would collect within the rim. I just won't hyper tighten down on it.

Gotta say the mount itself was of high quality and was simple to install the vehicle.

The antenna right out of the package was a low SWR of 1.2 on ch 1 and 1.3 on ch 40. I just left it at that, very pleased.

Can't wait for mine lol. Order the PL5000 and mag mount as I can't put a hole in the work van. I made around 20 contacts today on 38 LSB with my magnum 257. Had fun, and that's with a K40 mag mount. I hope the wait is worth it as I have heard nothing but good about the sirio antennas'. God bless and have fun with the new antenna system.

talked just over 60 miles tonight from my mobile to my buddy's base, he couldn't believe it when I told him where I was in the mobile,

What radio are you using camaro?? That is some long distance talking man. Does the sirio antenna work that well? If so makes me want mine even worse now lol. Great reports and info, god bless and have fun.

right now im using my Optima MK3 in my SUV,, I just entered my buddys address and my location from last night into (Draft Logic, google maps) Distance calculator at it was actually 62 miles straight line,,, still not to bad,, and this was a solid communication from me to him we talked for an hour and on my ride home I talked to another base that when entered in draft logic shows 59 miles straight line.

I am very happy with this antenna!

222 are you happy with the magnetic base itself? Confident it will hold that big antenna?

glad to hear you are getting good results with the sirio

Yes sir the magnet is 5 7/8" it's a big magnet, no doubt it will hold the antenna, are between 1.0-1.1 across the whole 40 channel 11meter band. Been talking to people 40-50 miles from me with it no problem and dx'ing on ssb has been a blast I have made over 30 contacts in the past few days. The 145 mag mount is what I got with the performer 5000. Here are a couple pics
