SMA Adapter Which one?

Apparently they're both made in China. I would vote for the fisrt one with what appears to be gold on the SMA end and the greater number of indents. More indents provides for easier mating of the UHF Male connector. That's my opinion.

Adapter looks sturdy enough.

Unfortunately I have had problems with the China adapters. The SO239 has a slightly different thread pitch and it will not thread very well.

Also, I would buy a small adapter cable with an SO-239 on one end and an your SMA on the other.

Less stress on an HT using the adapter cable in my opinion.

I have two adapters, one as pictured, the other with a short section of RG-174 between the two connectors. Both work fine electrically. Both have qwerks with their use. The adapter with the small feed line between connectors is handier to use in most cases but a 'bother' for large fingers to connect to that radio. The other one's use depends on the feed line connected to it too. The larger cables make for some awkwardness.
I use both depending on the situation. Sometimes wish I'd 'brought' the other one, but nothing awkward enough it can't be used.
I added a short section of wire insulation to the one with the RG-174. Glued it around the SMA connector and coax, just makes handling the connection of that little thingy easier for fat fingers (larger 'handle'?).
Which would I buy again? Which one did I break, that's the one I'd get.

Adapters require adaptability by the user... deep thought, huh?

Ordering from America and made in America are two completely different things. Like HH said, Chinese goods often have poor threads. When you get your "ordered in America" connector check the package for country of manufacture.

I did , it said made in usa on the antistatic baggy. Will found out how good it is when I get the ht Tuesday I am super excited !!!!

They probably were referring to the antistatic bag.

Probably I feel that if I purchased from rs or frys I could see it being from china... ah I dont care if it works without a problem I am happy. Its pretty hard not to find something from china....

Much better support with the larger surface area on the sma side.

Diamond Antenna makes one that I use on my VX8 and IC92. On the VX8 it screws down flush to the radio and makes good contact. On the IC92 I had to cut a washer from Tygon tubing to fill the gap. Common complaint on the 92 that the sma connection stands higher.

I think I got mine at HamCity online out of CA. They carry Diamond (black only) and another brand that looks similar that comes in gold and black finish. Using the Diamond on my two HTs you can't tell that an adaptor is installed.

i gotta see if i can find one of these adapters but here in the usa dont want to wait months for it to arrive.
