Antex 15 to 18 watt with a very small tip, size depends on how much heat mass you're working with so if it's just trace to component size leads then I like this one
I've used quite a variety over the years, from $4.00 Radio Shack irons, to Expensive Commercial Stations.
I currently Have An Antex 18 watt, and an Old Weller WTCPN Station, I've always preferred the station due to stability of the holder/cleaner, and low to operating temperature times.
The Antex is a great little quality Iron, which can be had for a reasonable price, only thing I don't like is the heavy, stiff cord.
Hakko makes a good quality station for the money as well...
Just depends how much you use it, can easily get by with a cheap little Iron, a decent quality Iron makes it easier, and more comfortable to do quality work.

Just depends how much you use it, can easily get by with a cheap little Iron, a decent quality Iron makes it easier, and more comfortable to do quality work.
i still need to get me a decent one again ... last one i had quit working a few years ago ... and right now i just have one of the cheap-o 15 watt ones. that will burn most electronics up quicker then anything .. but works great for tinning wires.

ANTEX 12v 25-40w pills coax center pins etc
a big old 65w poker for coax plug outer connections
gonna get me, weller sp120 or sp160 to replace the poker
had many different irons and a few analogue / digital stations over the years, been using the antex c series since i was 11 years old ( shut up mack ) and i alway come back to the old c series,
soldering with other irons is like wearing boots that dont fit ya,
if cost is no option then id have OKI metcal <<< the dogs bollocks

also if you're a radio tech and people constantly bother you while you're trying to work just club them with this.
