A crimped coax connector is just as good as soldered. (by the way I was assured I don't know how to solder a connector)

73 not 73's unless you appreciate "THE" OM's wry wit .
negative VSWR (not omnipresent but heard a few times)
1:1 VSWR = Resonance or Resonance is only at 1:1 VSWR ( subsequently jammed for several weeks over this as well)
Super Cathode Modulation . @N2EY an oldie but a goody. Hard to believe W6SAI got wrapped up in that considering the body of work . W2NSD Was a proponent as well so there's that . Colloidal silver and Fish Oil anyone ?
Ground is ground (ignoring single point practice)

"If I have to tell you , you wouldn't understand." This applies to sooooo many things and is just abhorrent.
HPM "invented" amateur radio. No...
HPM "invented" the machine gun. No, a suppressor . His father "patented" a well known machine gun.

EMCOM. Not necessarily a myth unless used to justify ARPA. Flame on I really don't care.
Microphone impedance can be determined with an ohm meter. @W7UUU yeah that's for you Dave :)
IMD = harmonic content (IMD ≠ harmonic content) seeing the terms randomly interchangeable.
Feedline only multiples of 1/2 wavelength. Try that with 300 or 450 ohm ladder line. I'll watch :)
Enough power and you can make your own skip.
Corollary to the above. "It's the first 3KW that make a difference."
Adding more to the above. "Everyone else does it ..." Could apply to many aspects but here just for excessive power. A bit over 1.5KW ? So what. 5KW+ ? Humm
Studio microphones with flat response out to 15KHz are a requirement. Did it occur to these OPs that "conventional SSB is 3KHz and more usually an average of 2.8KHz ?
ESSB. see above.

No ground radial vertical antenna. Okay it's a personal and professional opinion. Take it as such. This antenna does not exist.

Modifying a radio for general coverage transmit is illegal . Furthermore you WILL burn in hell.
Owning a radio capable of general coverage transmit is Illegal. Not knowing your license privileges is ignorant (it's in the question pool)
Marine SSB and HF(amateur) SSB are not interchangeable. Just ask the USCG.
USB is illegal below 20m

"Must Identify..." I have heard so many interpretations of this that I just ... Title 47Chapter ISubchapter DPart 97Subpart B → §97.119 or the short version 97.119. If it's an out of control private repeater control operator , or even a self appointed repeater cop I just bail and ask the owner later.
On HF it's polite to wait on the tens or a pause for ID for introduction. Subsequently identifying on the tens with everyone else. Then there's talking with Canadians. Industry Canada has a slightly different view and rules. However our rules still apply to us. Then there's the VIZWARZ guys above...

Alrighty Then ... I've had a foul week or two . Specifically amateur radio has been a bit confusing and frustrating. Aside from equipment , noise and antenna issues there was the whole Baker Island fiasco. Never made it into the log for various reasons . Chasing gremlins in 40-50 year old boat anchors following outright bad (not just poor) advice. Counterfeit parts have extended to resistors and ceramic disc capacitors , Had my PayPal account briefly locked twice this month over scammers , (the table the item was on was not specifically excluded from the sale??!!). Had to pursue refunds 5 times in a week for various reasons (no really , you can not have a full refund AND keep the item). Stepped on , ignored , interfered with , accused tried and convicted of poor operating procedure WHEN I WASN'T EVEN ON THE AIR.

Then there is teh 'Zed. To paraphrase an oft used quote from @WA7PRC , "You're right, I'm wrong, have a nice day"

Read it or don't . Not my problem.

Ham radio is still fun or I wouldn't be writing this.

Wow kopcicle !! You get another year older and now your one of those pretentious Hams that makes fun of me for saying 73's lol :ROFLMAO:;) Just kidding buddy I'm just a lowly 11 meter op but I know what you mean , that's why I only throw fire in the wire on the "STUPID BOWL" on rare occasion haha ! Even amongst CB guys some can respect and understand the basics . My father once said "Just because you own a WELDER , that does not mean you are a WELDER" rest his soul . I suppose not every Ham should have a ticket hell even some cb guys should be shut down and that's the "Citizen Band" lol not every person is a human . I cant stand people but I love spending time with human beings ;)

Happy Birthday buddy I hope life lets up a bit and gives you a break ! We all get fed up and frustrated but keep in mind if every person was a good one , you wouldn't be able to spot the bad ones:) lol

So in closing 73's and Happy Birthday my long distance radio friend !

Brian

Awesome.

RB & me, to talk to the ghost people takes a few shots. Keeps us from maybe potting a few as you described.

So long as I consider them figments of this imagination, they’re safe.

That irreverence aside, KNOW they hear your ten-league boots a’comin’ on.

-----"net is going to start in 15min"
Okay we'll be gone by then ---

Hilarious , I heard this exact scenario play out on 40m on Sunday. Some guy was a few kc's down from 7.191 calling CQ for winter Field Day when someone dropped down to inform him that THE 'Net was going to start in (yep) 15min. and then got hot under the collar because the poor fellow kept repeating "Fine, I'll stop transmitting in 15 minutes".

If I could add one thing to your excellent post, it's the HAM or CB operator being "plural" - "well, we'll be signing off now" , "We like your audio", or something similar (I catch myself slipping into that every once in awhile as well). In some respects it reminds me of a Seinfeld episode "The Jimmy" :sneaky:

While we're on pet peeves, how about people who write ham radio as "HAM" as if it were an acronym. Which it's not.

‘cause we’re using the kosher spelling.

That Shmuel Cohen, he’s a ham, boy!

There goes your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. No more PayPal or ApplePay, fella. And here comes the green-haired harpies, ADL and a tip to the Feebs.

You wanna live dangerously, be my guest.

H. A. M. is a’workin’ fine for me . . . .
