I will take delivery of a "New" RCI 2985Dx in a couple weeks. It has had the channel mods done to it and the DK was turned down to something in the 1.5w range, but I am not sure yet, or of the swing. Also not sure if the clarifier was unlocked.
What I do know is, it has been in the box for a couple years, since the present owner bought it as a package deal, and it was opened up last week to get pics of it. It looks absolutely brand spanking new. Not even any dust in the speaker holes. He never used it other than to test it was working and to see what he had.
So, I am getting it and would love to know more about this model. One thing I am really curious about is, I have seen pictures of the 2985DX and some of them look greenish gray and some are shiny black. Mine is shiny black. What's that about? I understand the green one is an earlier model, but what is the difference inside, if any?
Can someone explain how the channel mods work in the 2985dx? Is it the same e-chip as the 2995 uses? And what does the "channel mod" really mean. Extra 11 meter channels? Or is that something else. I don't know how this works. It's like most things, reviews always just assume that you already know all the slang terms. So please explain like I am a new guy, which I am. Sort of.
Thanks all. I am really stoked.
