Much to my total dismay I just found out this little bit of info. But if you don't already live in a state like this it may be coming soon and you better be aware and make sure our state reps know how you feel about it.
Nebraska Legislator Proposes Sanctuary State Law
As introduced by Omaha Senator Megan Hunt, LB502 would make Nebraska a Sanctuary State. 502 would limit law enforcement's ability to inquire about the immigration status of any subject they interact with. The bill specifically states that law enforcement cannot ask for a Social Security Card or any other information that may disclose a person's immigration status unless they volunteer the information.
The real Sanctuary provision of LB502 is that if a law enforcement officer, employee, or government official learns of a person's immigration status they must keep the information confidential. By law, they cannot disclose it to any third parties, including other peace officers, law enforcement agencies, government employees or officials, or government agencies.
