Sparkys CB shack order

i get my omega on Wednesday! woohoo! ups confirmd. also iv always had decent tuned radios from sparkys. copper has always done me wrong some way from borken stuff to horriby tunes to parts missing.
i understand now that the omega is always out of stock.

I was saying I have been happy with Sparky's . I have heard the bad but never experienced it. I actually got a decent radio from GIjoes. I generally only buy parts from HY and Copper. Been pleased.

The only time I ever felt I have been shi,,, pooted was from a BIG TIMER who used to be on here and I think I got my $90 in negativing advertising.

Cobra, RCI and others, cringe knowing how Copper "tunes" their radios.

They don't like the amount of warranty returns, but they put up with it cause Copper orders a crap load of radios from them.

A proper alignment takes time. If Copper (or most other shops, for that matter) actually performed a "text book" alignment, your order would take a week or two. Copper and those other "glorious" shops aren't gonna have 10-20 techs doing nothing but correct peak and tunes. That's why they employ "AKTR" all knobs turned right. Pop the cover...turn the pot...replace cover and ship their shit to the customer. Probably takes 3 minutes. I ordered a little Galaxy 949 from Al's and did not request any clipping, but they did it anyway. Then the turd Bitches and moans when I called him on it.

I get a charge outta some of the devoted fans of these shops. They worship and idolize these "techs" and treat them better than their own family.

Even today, Copper sells a shit load of radios daily. If you buy one, order it bone stock and find someone you trust to tune it up.

There are very few honest dealers and techs out there...

The Omega is one of the better exports, they sell real good. I wish Magnum would make the DeltaForce again, that was one great radio.

Just Info.

I do not care at all for H&Y. I have only got just a few items from Copper. But i can say this i have had real good luck with Redman CB Stop. I got a 2950DX from him last year and i just the other day ordered another one from him.

I had an in depth conversation with 'the man' prior to the last radio I purchased from him. I requested no AMC disable but when I got the radio it had been disabled. I got the same kind of 'customer service' you received when I called to talk to him about it. I was very cordial and respectful so it's not like I deserved the bombardment of vulgarities I received in return. I gave Sparkys several chances to redeem themself but being outright lied to more than once, the fact that they screwed up every single order I placed (wrong parts, incorrect quantity, missing parts) and being called evey name in the book I will never do business with them again. He still has a handful of naive followers, but with all the people he has pissed off in the last year or so his merry band of

If I remember this post from a different forum I believe you bought a factory second radio that was advertised dirt cheep, something like 89 dollars. If your not happy then I would shop some place else I guess.

Understand something about factory second radio's. If say 5 different shops each order 10 factory second 949's from galaxy they have no idea or control over what they get. Some maybe had a small issue while others might have been hacked up some golden screwdriver place and are all jacked up. Galaxy will go through them fast and get them "working", and move them down the road as a second. So now whatever shop ends up with the radio and sells it they now catch the blame for any and all prior work. Cut trace, bad solder, shrink wrap, you name it. For the giveaway price they had those for your radio was probably put on the bench and checked to be on frequency, and given a very basic tune-up. If your limiter was disabled in some hidden location who really knows at this point who did this or when it was done. heck, if you wanted nothing done they might have only bench tested the radio and not even taken the cover off. hard to say.

In the end you can never make everyone happy. Whatever shop people here mention as an exellent place to buy from there will be someone that will post their "bad treatment" they got from that place. I still stand by the list of places I mentioned in the previous post.

Let us know how you like it. I love mine. Mine was pristine when I got it. Great radio, and has some ham features the others don't have. I use mine on 10M and set it up for "CON2" (i.e.: "stealth mode"). It boots up on 10M as an amateur radio, but you have to intentionally hit "Function + Call" to turn it into an export radio. If you're going to use it on 10M you will want the splits and the undocumented function - RPT - the 88.5Hz tone! (Hit "Function + LCR").

If you're not a ham, then just set it up for "CON3".

For CB use, it's also amazing.

Is 88.5 Hz the standard CTCSS on 10M repeaters?
