ss3900ghp

if unlocked you mean move on transmit instead of just recieve than yes.

find a reputable shop that does alignments, generally you need a signal generator, a good frequency counter, some tuning sticks, and a good digital multimeter.

most places will do the recieve and transmit alignments for under $75

thats what i meant thanks carl.
73's

same as a connex 3300 or just about every other old style galaxy radio (there all the same rci board)

i hope you didnt pay much for it.

was wondering because a new superstar 3900 (same radio different face) is only $146 and takes no tools other than a razor blade to convert for cb.

hes got the special addition radio carl its gold knobs and trim and that jazz like that. There was a gold turbo model aswell that had a frequency counter also those are hard to come by

i know, its $50 more to look pretty. doesnt make it work any better. im saying if he paid alot for it and need to get it aligned before he uses it he would be better of getting a regular ss 3900 for less. the guy on the other end cant see the faceplate and gold knobs.

Right I here and agree with you there if its that far off it neeeds the clarifier done and if clarifiers that far off and is already done then it wasnt alligned properly and or someone that shouldnt of had there fingers in it DID. And if they messed with those VCO's and he doesnt know how to do that properly himself its gonna cost him a little extra cash to straighten it out. But who knows if hes happy thats all that matters Ide just have it tuned and alligned and the nightmare or problems should be over.

ahhhhh ok well thats a single final radio so it should be doing 20 - 25 watts PEP with a good peak and tune. Most likely you will see 20 to 22 watts on a hard or peak swing
