SSB Radio

The exports are mostly about RF output and mod. I've had a few of them and for CB SSB the Cobra 148 and Grant XL ( same thing) is hard to beat. Not RF or mod monsters but great RX. A ton of easy modifications and easy to find. If you want better, get an HF rig.

Well for a base set up
would be better with an IC-7000 or a 756 Pro 3

2970 works great as a mobile
(is what it was designed for )
The 7000 is a very nice rig. But, for a base, I would rather have
a PRO3. Runs cooler and the bandscope is actually useful.
I have a 7000 that I run mobile and really do like it. It's not modded
for 11 meters. I have an old Connex 3300 HP for that.
AT $800-$900 used, (or $1,100.00 +- new) the 7000 is a great rig.
Even if you use it for a base, it is nice. BUT, if I had a choice between
the two for a base-only unit, I'd go with the PROIII.

True..
Most people however will not get the Pro III
Though it is an Excellent radio and more suitable as a Base HF radio
the IC-7000 is typically considered the Baby Pro ( lol )
