SSTV on VHF

ok i think i got it setup except when i press TX on the program it comes out of the pc speakers...i want it to key the ptt and do it that way.

dunno how you are setup,.... you need to configure the LINE OUT or MIC,... whichever you are using.... to send the audio to your radio via an un-usued comm port.

are you using windows?... then adjust the sounds and audio properties

do you have RX signals in the waterfall display?

in the MISC tab,..... "usually" the source is set to MONO,... but it depends on your sound card setup.... if you don't see rf in the waterfall, try right or left

OK, Windows XP, FTM350AR external speaker port on radio to line in soundcard on pc.

Here is three photo's of the menu options on MMSSTV TX,RX,MISC.

Tell me if something is incorrect? I will say when i open it up without the usb cable plugged into the radio it say's cannot find radio com port 3 so i got that setup correctly.

everything looks ok,... except you need to uncheck RTS while scan,... you can play with that AFTER you get the puter to key the rig. I just don"t bother with it.

I'M confused,... why are you using audio directly from the radio's speaker to the rig,..... you do have an INTERFACE between them don't you?

RX audio should go rig..... interface.... 'puter
TX should be reversed path

thats what i suspected..........

unless your radio has some sort of built in sound card device, you need an interface to KEY the rig, inject the signal to the transmitter and cycle the TX relay,... and to also provide rf isolation.
what you have will allow you to RX but not to TX.

do a search for things like BUXCOM,... SIGNALINK RASCAL ect.

if you are a builder there is a good schematic in MMSSTV help files

1. go to buxcom, tell them you want a USB RASCAL,...tell them what rig you have and have THEM supply the proper cable

or
2. get a yaesu ct-142 cable (not cheap) and a db9-usb adapter

See the manufactures PACKET instruction manual the ct 142 wiring is there

or

3. all you need to do is wire pin an 8 pin mini din to DB9 CONNECTOR as follows:

MINI DIN DB9 (to a DB-9-USB adapter)

PIN 2 ......................PIN 2
PIN 3.......................PIN 3
PIN 7.......................PIN 7
PIN 8.......................PIN 8

if you are looking at the RASCAL, then i "think" it has an 8 pin connector

you should need the 5DY8M cable

rascal with proper cable for a 8 pin yaesu's $79.75 you can spend a lot more , but,....

and you can also do all the other hf digital stuff PSK, RTTY, DIGITAL sstv (much better than analog sstv), ect

you will want to get off 2 meter FM and onto hf digital once you get everything working properly**Jump_im**
