Just for grins today I put up a homebrew (14 ga wire with fiberglass to support the radiator) version of the Starduster- 1/4 wave vertical radiator with 3 radials at around 150 degrees, mounted with the feedpoint at 27 feet, the whole thing insulated from the mast.
This is just temporary and I haven't built an antenna for 27 MHz in several years, but it's below 2:1 VSWR from 25.0 to 29.1 MHz. I'm surprised by that. I may find a place to leave this up permanently, especially if I can trim it to put that curve down about 600 KHz for 10 and 12 meter coverage.
