Hi guys … You know the drill …. the manual does not give instructions as to how to Program the Memory Channels manually. I bought the factory software but it came on one of those mini 3 inch disks and not a CD sized disc and I have no device to run it on. I tried the CHIRP software but at a point it encountered an Error and went I went to the HELP Section there were over 50 pages of topics and I ain't got time fo' that and nobody else does either ….. Ha!

SO …… has anyone here recorded the procedure for manually programming the memory channels and could list them here for everyone ? Baofeng UV-5R+ / OR know of and can post a link to any webpage where the procedure is postedfo'

Many thanks for any help !!

Revisiting this post …. yeah just finally getting around to watch the video. Actually THIS video is for manually programming in 1 freq. to use on the spot. It is NOT a tutorial for programming a list of freqs. into MEMORY CHANNELS for permanent storage. - Will go hit up youtube and see if I can find something else. - Or, does anyone else here have a tutorial saved for doing this? …… and again as per the starting post …. I didn't have any luck with CHIRP myself so don't bothering recommending that. Thanks

Really, it is just so much easier all the way round to pony up and buy a programming cable. Otherwise - as I'm sure you've already found out - programming it manually is a exercise both in futility and frustration.

Really
easy to use their software with the cable.

Did you put a tiger tail on it yet?

Alright guys …. I'm not trying to be too dumb here. I actually did buy the software & cable one time and the program on the disc won't open and run on my machine and it doesn't indicate what type of program it needs to open & run it. I am not a computer expert so I can't figure anything else out.

I did go back to youtube and found another vid but the exact way he showed the manual programing on his 5R+ did not correspond exactly to the way my 5R+ works …. you see it's just one frustration after another.

There are some locals in my area 1 county over who are successfully using to CHIRP to program these things so I'll just run it over there sometime and let one of those guys do it for me …… I was trying to do it myself ;-) Thanks for your time.

Not sure if your home computer is a laptop or not. If it is, drag it along and see if your buddies can help you figure it out. CHIRP is extremely easy to use once you get the driver set up for the cable. A couple of weird things you have to do with the 5R, like have the display set to the top readout and not the bottom when you program it, but other than that, super easy. It's nice to have it on your computer if you travel and want to add frequencies for the area you will be in, and very simple to change it back to your local repeaters when you're done. (Via the *.img file). Have fun!

Actually the problem is, some versions of windows dosnt like the counterfeit cable and spits the dummy. You can usually dick around and get it work .Got to get the USB port to recognize it before you do anything else!
Haven't programmed mine for a few years. Dont even know if my lastest version works or not .
Biggest problem people have manually programming chs is they forget to enter rx ,set it, then enter tx and set it.Sort of a two step process and counter intuitive to what most are used to.
I agree though real bitch programming more than a few chs at a time

Dont let windows auto select the driver, you have to tell it the one to use .
You might have to try a couple of different versions till you get it right. Then stop windows from auto updating it
