well the only thing that it clogs up after is the heater core...and as for that leak it wont fix it!
and you said front of the intake manifold??
is that were the hose or housing is for the rad hose?
otherwise if that is leaking then it will start getting sucked up into
the intake for the carb or throttle body and causing all kinds of problems...fouled plugs,cold start mixing wrong,starting to run rougher and many more within time..might even loose a oil ring after a bit....
if you are going to put stop leak into it pull the heater core hoses and connect them together...
also what kind of truck and what year??
I agree, on that motor the intake gasket is very easy to change. Make sure you have a torque wrench and metric tools and you should be fine.
Being familiar with that motor like I am I would say to get a new t-stat and gasket and a new gasket for the throttle body. The throttle body gaskets are notorious for leaks causing a rough idle.
If you get a cheap chiltons type manual for that truck from auto zone or a similar parts store life will be easier.
