Hey I have a Xforce 400hd strait four pill with the pp100s in it I am certainly no cb tech so a little input would be highly appreaciated. I am running it with a galaxy dx94hp, the other day my buddy came around the corner at wawa with his Dave made m80 keyed up I quickly turned off my radio but didn't have time to turn off the amp and I had what I believed to be relay chatter. Anyhow ever since this incident my amp isn't working to its full potentialanymore since the modulation lights no longer go all the way up and if I cut off the amp in the radio witch means I'm dking less into the box it just clicks almost like it's that same relay chatter... I'm no tech here and I don't know exactly what the problem is or if my buddy running his amp too close to me destroyed my amp or what any input would be highly apprieciated thanks..... I did run a dead key of 12-15w into it perhaps this was too high for a strait 4 pill with no driver?

Also I checked it with a dosey meter and it's not anplifying at all.

Check your power wires to the amp and make sure they are solid. Any weak point will not allow full current flow, and this will not allow full output. Symptoms would include relay chatter. Might also be the cable between the radio and amp is faulty/intermittent connection.

Whatever happened with your radio/amp, it had nothing to do with your friends radio/amp.

Thanks for the reply and the information yeah I checked the power wires they're good the jumper is good too I guess I have to take it to a local radio shop for some reason or another I seem to think the transistors are messed up unfortunately

1) Your buddy didn't hurt your amp, that was just the relay chattering to his RF.

2) I'm not up on the PP100 finals, I hope you didn't over drive them. Their site says a max output dead key from the amp is 100 watts. If an input carrier of 12-15 watts keys the amp at 125-150 then you might have damaged it. A 5-8 watt dead key and say 50-60 peak watts should be plenty.

3) Before you even went the amp route your antenna system was priority one. This means a proper install and have the SWR set as low as you can get it.

4) Double check your amp install. What gage wire? How long of a run? Positive to the battery negative to the firewall or floorboard. Fuse at the battery and at the amp.

6 gauge wire from positive to fender with the negative and 2 fuses yessir

If my pills are fried I'm gonna replace all four with toshibas I'll get my hands on them one way or another

I would just kinda look everything over just to make sure you didn't miss something simple. If you have a trusted cb shop near you have them bench test the amp, maybe the radio too. If everything checks out then you know it's in the antenna, coax, jumper, or install.

If it is the amp I guess you will have to decide which way to go. The Toshiba 2sc2879 was discontinued several years ago. RF Parts has a small supply of the originals left, bad news is they are 65 bucks each. X-Force sells the pp100 for I think 35 bucks.
