I would speak with someone reliable. The problem might have been the receiving station. Failing that I would put a dummy load on the output of my radio and listen on another radio, physically some distance apart and see if that "crackle" disappears.....
I agree, second opinion. But possibly you have an issue. Probably wants you to give it to me cause, we’ll i don’t have a good reason, not even a real reason.
Maybe the pins are loose on the mic and wiggle around a little? Coax loose maybe? Truck driver has crackley radio maybe?
Keep the "Crackle" radio installed right where it is - so if you do have a wiring or antenna issue - you can hear it thru the monitor radio.
IF you remove the radio from the place you were told "it crackled" - you lose the ability to track down the cause - especially if the radio is not at fault.
If it's a base radio - heck a "Crackle" can be from an igniter on a furnace "snapping" thru the power supply feed into the RF chain...
Mobile? Can be anything from loose wiring and bad plug onto loose antenna whip or issues with coax.
The crackle may also affect the "meter" because if it's audible and injected into the audio chain - you should see spikes on the S/RF meter from this effect. Poor antenna mounts can really make this visible on that meter.
So if the last suggestion one shows activity while you use it with no audio added - then swap back to the stock mic and check again. Can be "too much audio" squeezing into the radio - the Palomar 41 mic needs to be checked out.
that formaldehyde kinda give ya a deadly buzz hahaHAHA?
I had that happen to my mic.i reset it n when at that happy spot i used scotch tape n made sure it stayed in its happy little world
