Stryker 955 or a Ranger2995

500 for chickenbander? LMAO
I paid $450 for my 2995 and have to say im happy with it. I kind of wish the low side wasnt so set up so low. I see where some transistors were changed i believe to lower output for a low drive 3 stage tube amp or a 1x pill driver with a max dk of 2.5 watts swinging 8 am and 12 watts peak ssb. The 2x2290 amp does 200 peak am and 180 ssb. Has the original factory fan kit. It would take a lot of dollars to get me off off it, or death lol.

Never owned a 955 but i know the 2995 has much better rx than my 29. Ill. Eventually buy a 955 im sure. Ive been looking at them the last few months.

I would advise you to be a little patient and save up $800 or so and watch qrz.com or QTH classifieds for a gently used Icom IC-7300. We're only talking a little more than you are looking to spend ($500) the difference between a IC-7300 or an export CB in receive, transmit, capabilities are universes apart. Easy MARS TX mod too (you can probably even find a used one already modded). At 10 watts carrier, the IC-7300 is very respectable sounding on AM & sounds FB on SSB and is going to give you additional band coverage and features that'll keep you learning and entertained for much longer.
