This didn't happen at a CB shop, but once sitting in a truck stop, I keyed up the mic and asked why anyone likes echo.
One person replied "it makes my modulation go up"

1 must remember he hacks radios, installs borderline right swr set antennas n sells hack up repairs, how he gets your $$$The guy in the CB shop at the Petro in Weatherford, TX thinks people who use antenna analyzers are idiots, and that the correct way to do it is to use an inline SWR meter, because that way you're measuring with the radio in-system. Taking out the radio is strictly forbidden when measuring and tuning an antenna, according to him.
Well, what I got out of that was that he hacks radios to pieces. So I bought the used radio I wanted and walked out without saying anything about that.
Got it to my tech, and sure enough, it was hacked to pieces, but it ended up being beautifully restored. (Operationally - it still looks like it got tossed into a running cement mixer and left in there for a while.)
What kills me is the ladys out of the box radio sounds as good if not better than the $1000 (BWWWWWWWAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!) radio...
