I'm actually glad you verified my assumption. I'm looking forward to receiving that speaker and since you're the first one to post something solid about my initial thought as to a difference between a 30-plus year old speaker and something modern is giving me the belief I made the right choice. Whether the speaker I bought is any good or not I won't know until I get it and plug it in. If it doesn't work I'll just return it and move on to the next one. I'm always of the thought that the more expensive an item is the better it is and I normally would not have purchased a $12 speaker. But my initial thought that a new $12 speaker will probably outperform a $70 30 year old speaker is something I believe and will soon find out. Thanks. 73 PS I will give a few shots at figuring out how to copy paste and share a link but this is the best I could do for now..The OEM speakers that came with older rigs like the Madison and such are outdated technology. Those paper cone speakers are almost 40 years old, and in most cases the paper is ready to fall apart. The current-day mylar cone speakers are light years better. I use a Pioneer 6x9 3-way for my external speaker. I built a small sealed cabinet using the plans from a book called "Building Speaker Enclosures" that I bought at Rad Shack years ago. Sounds good, but I think anything would have sounded better than the POS I was using.
