Swing Mod + for the magnum Delta force.

My radio is an older one without the CPU board in the back or side of the front(one with the cons on it).
Can be done on the newer one..
Can be done on a omega force.
First Make Sure your Unit has a 2SB778 Power Amp Regulator
or better if there is one, which is Q178 on a Delta Force.

On the RF in the Front of The Radio Pull The Resistor Off the Pod
I don't know the Value as I seen some From 450 Ohm To 2.7K on the Rf Pod ...

wire color don't matter so just pull the resistor its the back pod
the front is used for SWR calibration...

For the Swing kit you can use a 1N4001 Diode. pull the right side of the resistor leg out.
Solder the 1N4001 Diode on the right side of R412 with the Cathode pointing to the Right side of the unit.
keep the connections as short as possible..
as you see in the picture ,I used A Dominator Mod kit, but also tried with the Diode setup.

This last step is up to you!
this radios stock mic is a power mic and has a adjustment in the mic and also on the Echo board.

Dont forget to set your Min DK and max DK using RV-117 and RV-118 ...

only heat i am getting is from the PNP Power Amp Regulator
which in the near future I am updating to a different one suited for the board....

This swing Kit Mod was my idea. you can spread it out all you want..because your going to do it anyway:p
But I would like credit for it in the end...
and if any of my mods are abused ..well guess what good luck on using mods from the past..mine will stick in a book and amongst Friends!

EnJoy!

Thanks for the tune up

I have one of the later model omega forces and have never really been happy with it .....I even bought another radio and put it on the shelf.

I was able to do all your tune up with an adjustment where you said there would be a resistor to add an 1004 diode. My radio had two wires there going to a little black board with in addition to the two wires it had a ground and hot and a few more going to the delay board...it really looks factory but since the radio had a former owner I cant be sure.....what did i do????lifted up the right wire where you raised the resistor leg. and added the 4001.

The radio has great power and awesome swing. I paid a dude to tune my s3 when they came out and it went crazy and died in less than two weeks....

since then I have bought equipment and tune my own. Thanks for not being selfish.....it gets old trying to find good tune up info for late model radios.

I have not put it back together but left it on much of yesterday. great comebacks saying load but clear. Bare foot and thru a amp.\\\

Two questions......what would be the part number for a bigger voltage reg?

Second......do you or any one know how much dc is supposed to go to the 1969's I have 2.3 volts. that little copper card in the back by the finals.... lots of tuners take it out it feeds the finals the trans in the back of the radio.....what is the safe voltage here.....no way am i going to give it full voltage. anyone know many volts need to be there....

thanks so much again...you reap what you sow....when you give......it comes back to you. thats a fact.....I was talking to one of the real talented guys here the other day about this he is thinking of releasing lots of his secrets......I appreciate the brains here but 80 dollars plus shipping is crazy....we almost sent this radio off..........so I guess I owe you a 100 dollars...

once again thanks and thanks for those that keep the forum
going.

Don't need one for that unit ! that Regulator is fine.:)

you don't measure it by volts you measure(set) it by miliamps (ma) and I am sure it is ok leaving it stock...most are 50-100ma on them units testing them by pulling that board out near the
finals and putting a meter on jp9 and jp8 and setting the meter for ma setting....then checking it for 50-100ma..

and your welcome, for the mod :)

On AM, the voltage should change with the carrier power setting - higher carrier=higher voltage (i believe Lords said the adjustment pots were RV117 and 118). Also, in SSB, full voltage is applied to the finals.

yeppers and that was for the older magnums...yes the sp1 does the same and compresses the tones...the deltaforce that i did mod didn't have the top mod and did only 40 watts ..this is why i added
my mod :)

Lords I did this mod to an older Delta force..all I can say is wow!!! & thanks:) at 14.6 volts mine keys 2 watts swings almost 50 pep.. everyone says it sounds great also :)
Thanks again, Hooty

Very cool Lords, I love my Delta.

" Dont these have the Top Gun Modulators???? "
The Omega Force does, the Delta Force never came with the Top Gun.

So I have a cobra 138xlr and the meter dose not work... It dose not key up and signal dose not work.... It is not stuck it the meter moves freely. now wires are resoldered on both ends...So now that do I look at. Could it be a diode or a transistor?
