Hey you might check out a Galaxy 919, when done right they really talk and show strong numbers.

I have never run any of those radios except the 44V, and it was not the HP model. However, if it is more power from the radio than from a Cobra or Uniden, perhaps the you should only have considered the HP models?
I know you are looking for an AM radio, but I would not shut out the SSB options in the used market while looking over the field. The versatility is hard to ignore.

not to mention there are allot of older radios that are more reliable than what is availble new today.

for what it is worth, i have never had luck with a connex though many have.
i have never owned a styker and doubt i ever will, i am not into all the flashy lights.
the general lee has been around along time with the only major change is them going to mofsets a few years ago.
i have owned a few galaxy radios, that have served me very very well, and i would not hesiate to buy another.
the only choices here really are the general lee's and the galaxy's

its a good mobile a lil over the 200 but its worth it from what i have seen.Yhe general is another beast am only but worth it.Im in the market for either one myself tough decision.I feel like the 158edx is one of those radios that once they are gone u will kick yourself in the butt for not getting one.
