Telstar dx250 and dx 350 amplifiers

I own 3 of these Telstar Telwave amps. 2 dx350s and 1 DX500. 2 I have had for 10 years I baught new from the builder and the other I got used off ebay. 1 is a 2 pill 2879 heat sink only no cover but the other 2 are 454 amps 1-2 pill and 1-4 pill with plastic covers. All 3 are great amps and have features no other cb amp and some HF amps don't have. Reverse polarity protection, over heat protection, swr protection and Bias/ high swr protection. It's basically impossible to hurt these amps. I seen where people complain about the plastic housing. These amps never get hot enough to even bring up the fact some are plastic. Another of these guys are diehard supporters of XForce, Dave made, Texas star etc but I would be willing to bet, if any of these guys ever used one and abused one like I have and had no issues they would become like me and never buy anything but. I will never buy any other amp unless it's very cheap. The builders is still making amps that are far and beyond other builders. Not sure if the videos are still online. He has removed all the videos of the amps he no longer makes but his new stuff are something to see.

Mines in a metal housing. I don't know what the guy is doing lately, but I bought mine for for a reasonable price directly from the builder. I think about $350. Doesn't have a preamp, but do you really need one? I never had an issue with it, and always had good reports. Pretty sure it is a mosfet version, I haven't had it out or opened up for some time.

I own about 12+ of his PCB's and have built 3 seperate designs of his. They are fantastic.

I have owned one of his finished units and it is fantastic. Everything he promised and no hiden issues. I would love to own a Tokyo High Power, Henry or JRC but they are out budget and I amnot even sure they still make amplifiers!

What int he market is as good or better at his price point?

I like to put it like this! If you sell me a 400HP car I intend to use all 400HP regularly. I expect the engine and the transmission to last me at least 300,000 miles with proper maintence. If you it can not do that you are a loser, liar and fleeced my wallet!

I believe in continious power 24/7 not peak power. Sadly it is hard to find a unit like that. You should be able to key your radio and go to bed and wake up the next day with it humming along. If I leave my home hifi gear going at full tilt in the basment or garage and take off for a week when I come home it is still going.

Radio and amplifers should be appliances that just work and run out the box for decades baring abuse or antenna system failure.

I am pretty sure if I slapped 1 or 2 giant fans on my Brian Giffrey amps like builders do I could actualy key it up go to bed and wake up the next day with it singing along as if nothing had happened. You have to get into some seriously expensive ham gear to make that a reality.

The older Texas Star Amplifiers are way better than these new ones
Especially those that were built with Genuine Toshiba Transistors. I own 3 Texas Stars, 1-350 HDV 1-250DX, and 1-500V. All with real deal Toshiba's in them. Haven't had a single issue with any of the 3. Matter of fact, every amplifier i own has Toshiba's in them and I have stock piled plenty in case of need for repairs. Just my 2 cents.

Now on a different topic,I have a friend who has a GB150 amp and the preamp is malfunctioning. It decreases the incoming signal when activated. If anyone can steer me in the right direction of what the issue may be i would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH. Thanks in advance.

Telstar.
